GENERATOR

PowerHouse uses brand-name mission critical grade standby diesel generators that are able to start and assume the load in less than 10 seconds. The generator and its digital micro-processor controls have been closely integrated and optimized to work with seamlessly within the PowerHous architecture. The integrated microprocessor allows access to critical performance data and communicating that data to a common monitoring and controls console for the PowerHouse. All controls run continuously and not just on demand:

• Deliver alarm and signaling capabilities to remote microprocessors in the network
• Eliminate single points of power system failure through distributed logic design
• Predict and help avoid genset failure by monitoring the genset starting system
• Regulate output current to facilitate coordination and limit over-voltage
• Minimize frequency, voltage overshoot on start and load changes, and black smoke through integrated fuel ramping and field excitation
• Prevent pre-mature system failures during load transfers through programmed transition during switching of inductive loads

GENSTART

GenSTART from Active Power is a battery-free, starting modular system that adds additional nines of availability to multiple standby generator sets. GenSTART supplies 1725 Cold Cranking Amps to each generator set starting motor, so you can be assured starting power is available when it's most critical - at start-up. GenSTART has battery paralleling capabilities to allow for redundant DC voltage sources. GenSTART is a unique component within PowerHouse in an effort to deliver the most reliable power architecture in the market.

SWITCHGEAR

PowerHouse includes purpose-built mission critical grade switchgear that provides optimal distribution to the electrical or mechanical loads supported by the PowerHouse. Switchgear plays an important role in tying the critical power path together in a small footprint with serviceability in mind.

Automatic Transfer Switch

The integrated high-speed automatic transfer switch ensures instant transfer of loads between utility and standby generator achieved by a reliable, field proven solenoid operating mechanism. The ATS has been optimized for the PowerHouse architecture and raises the reliability bar significantly with its microprocessor controlled operation.

Container

The entire electrical architecture is housed in a standard ISO (International Organization of Standardization) container that adheres to the strict R-668 and R-1897 standards that governs construction, internal and external dimensions ensuring a standardized rugged protection of the valuable equipment inside. The ISO container construction is used in the PowerHouse because of its commonly understood construction and ability to be shipped to almost anywhere in the world via rail, road or water.
